Article Two, Section One, Clause Five, states the requirements for becoming the President of the U.S.. The first on the list is being a natural born citizen. Many citizens that are not born in the U.S. may become high ranking officials. The Presidential Succession Act, is the way the succession of a President is determined. After the President who is in office at the time cannot fullfil his duties there is the Vice President who is next in line for the presidency. If the Vice President cannot take the office,then there is the Speaker of the House in line to take on the challenge and so on. If the person who is in line for the succession is not a natural born citizen, then they cannot stand to take on the role of President. This country is based on diversity and equal rights, and this law does not represent either. Equality is very important to the identity of the U.S., this is what our four fathers build the government upon. This law just shows that we are not all equal just because we're citizens. In my opinion, this is not fair because I was not born in the U.S. but I lived here all my life and I would not be able to assume the role of President.
